Does anyone want to wear Mikaylin's hat??

Hats, everyone should wear one now and again. My child loves hats, mostly on other people, but sometimes she will venture to wear a hat of her own.

On Monday, everything was a hat. As most kids she was enjoying cleaning out the bowls of the kitchen and putting them on her head, while she said, "hat". Everything became a hat. Her lovable dog sparky was a hat, a pen was a hat, everything was a hat.

So, there we are sitting at the table, while Mickey is eating her snack. Cherry yogurt. I was looking down at a paper when I hear my child say, "hat". I look up and guess what I saw????

You guessed it, my daughter putting her plate on her head and declaring it a hat. Oh, to be a child again.
Can't You Feel the Excitement???

Day at the Zoo

Yesterday, we went to the zoo. It was a small zoo, we were able to see the whole thing in a couple of hours. Mickey enjoyed the monkey's, elephants, birds, and some fish.

Now, Mickey got a great nap afterwards, and so did Daddy. Momma went to work out (first time at the new gym). So she didn't get a nap. But hey, it was fun.

When Mickey saw the bear, she said "bear". Yay! And then she saw the elephants and she made the noise that elephants make along with lifting up her arm as the trunk. We have been working on that one.

It is always fun to see things for the first time through the eyes of a child! Especially your own child!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. (Sorry for the small post, I am really tired from no sleep last night).

Water Fun!

We are doing swimming lessons again. As much fun as Mickey had the first time, you need to double that! Tomorrow will mark the end of the 1st week of swim lessons. Mickey is as daring as ever. We have learned to let her go at her own pace and lessons are going so much more smoothly!

Daddy had a day off so he took Mickey swimming. I am not sure who had more fun, Mickey or Daddy. But I think that Daddy enjoyed being in the pool with Mickey. Momma got to take pictures and stay dry, so that was a great gift too!

Here are a few pictures to enjoy.... and you can decide who is enjoying themselves more....

Sweet Dreams

For some babies & toddlers dreamland comes rather easily. They sleep through the night, take naps without any problems. Not my child. She has always had a difficult time with her sleeping. She has to be close and attached.

We have been co-sleeping for awhile now (most of her life). I have also held her during naps. I have tried and tried to make the transition into her own bed and sleeping on her own. For some CIO (Cry it out) and other sleep training methods work... not for us.

This week we moved her big girl bed. The twin bed that momma used when she was in seminary into out room and set up next to our bed. We bought the big girl sheets. She has been sleeping there and doing great!

Today, she awoke during her nap. Looked at me and signed more, while whimpering a little. I thought she needed something to drink. No she needed "more" sleep. Yay!!!

I guess we are making progress....

Errands & Pancakes

Now most of you know that Mickey doesn't say momma. Or hasn't since she first said her first word. She loves to say "daddy" and sign "daddy". She even loves to sign and say "dog". But momma she refuses to say or sign.

Until....

Last night. I had to go out for a short errand and Mickey stayed home with Daddy. I was only gone an hour at the most. When I got home, Daddy & Mickey were sitting on the front porch and my daughter lit up. I made a big fuse over her. And to my surprise, my little girl says "momma". I got so excited.

Then this morning....

We were in the kitchen making pancakes. She is singing to herself and I hear "Mommy".

Now I don't think that I need to tell you how big of a smile I am wearing today. Who knew that going on a errand and making pancakes were the incentive to hear my precious name out of Mickey's lips.

A Blog????

A blog?? I have been toying with this idea for quite some time. Especially as little M provides me with more and more ideas to write about. I am still going to do the monthly updates (and maybe more consistently) about what has happened during the month. But this is for those moments during the month that I just want to share and don't want to wait for fear of losing them in the everyday routine of life.

I have a few friends that blog. So I hope that I can take from them some ideas and make this something that you will visit often and enjoy.

Have a great day!
