Mickey is sick today. We took her to the dr & now it is wait & see. She wasn't breathing great or sleepig so she is in bed with momma & daddy. Praying for a decent night.

ETA: That Mickey was up most of the night. We took her to the doctor and found out that she has croup. She was given a shot that will help make the swelling go down. Poor thing just feels awful.
She slept with momma and daddy last night. So needless to say we are not rested today.

Spa Day

On Friday, I was treated to a "Spa Day" by my loving husband. He had given me a spa certificate last Mother's day and due to an assortment of obstacles I had never used it. Last week Jeff went down to a wonderful day spa and booked me a day. A much needed day off!

So on Friday I got up and went to start my day with a massage! Let me tell you that one of my favorite things is a massage. And my back needed it greatly. It was the perfect way to begin a relaxing day. I had left Mickey home with her daddy and she didn't cry for me when I left. Which was a much needed blessing. So I didn't have to worry about her during the massage, I just relaxed.

After the massage, I went upstairs to get my hair done. I got highlights put in. Now if you are a facebook person and are my friend there, you know that I was not totally sold on it. I was still very out of it from my massage. So the lady could have told me that she was cutting off all my hair and giving me a mohawk and I would have agreed. Just letting you know where I was in it all. She put blond highlights in my hair and I mean A LOT of BLOND highlights in my hair. This Hispanic/Japanese girl has never done blond before. So I have had it a few days and it is growing on me. I just needed to take a little bit of time and realize that yes, it is a bolder look that I am used to, it isn't a bad change.

I was also treated to a mani and pedi. I had my nails done before my wedding so that was quite some time ago. I enjoyed getting my nails done. Next came the pedi. I have never done this. Something about someone touching my feet was a little frightening to me. But I LOVED IT! The massage of my feet and making them nice and soft. Painting my toes was nice. Mickey loved the painted nails too. We ended up going to the store and getting some sparkley clear nail polish for her. That has been a great thing for this little girl. It means that she isn't biting her pretty nails. Which has been a big thing since Mickey has a difficult time with biting her nails.

I have to report that Daddy and Mickey did very well. They had lots of fun painting and exploring and just having some good one on one Daddy & Mickey time. I am looking forward to another hour or two of time to get away and regroup.

Thank you Jeff for the break, I appreciated it more than you will ever know!

Outfits of a 3 year old

I am learning that being three means a sense of independence. Depending on the situation independence is a good and bad thing, at least for me the momma! When I hear the stool in the kitchen being moved around and then I find my 3 year old in a cabinet that she knows holds some goodies, independence a bad thing. Finding humor in the outfits my child chooses to wear, independence is a good thing.

Before we got the whole potty training down, underwear were often seen on her head. I thought that was a thing of the past. That would be a no, when she discovered that these make great hats. Thankfully we haven't had the need to go out and about in them yet.

Then we have rediscovered outfits that she hasn't worn in a year. These would be great if they still fit her but her little body has stretched out quite a bit in the last year and can you believe that those things just don't fit like they used to?

Then there is the whole compromise on dressing when she is leaving the house to go to music class or even to the grocery store. For music class she picked out a tank top to wear on one of the coldest days we have had this winter. I had to find a long sleeve shirt to make it work and she wore something warm and still got to wear the shirt she picked out. I didn't take a picture of her in that at the time due to just trying to get out the door. Today she wanted to wear her Dora pajamas out the door. A couple of problems with this idea. 1) It is the wrong season, 2)It is a little short since she is growing and 3) they are pj's. This did not stop her. She said to me "I know what to do" and returned with a turtle neck all ready to make a very unique outfit. She actually didn't do that bad. She kind of reminds me of a flower child. :)

We are now at Wednesday night and Mickey has been sleeping in her own room since Saturday night. She is doing quite well. We moved her bed in her room which has been a great thing. She has been sleeping her bed since she was a 1.5 years old so she is attached. She is loving being a princess in her princess room. So all in all I would say that we are doing well in our transition.

Guess where Mickey is sleeping?

In her princess room

Organizing with a 3 year old is a tough job. Last week while Jeff was gone, I organized Mickey's dresser drawers. I was rather happy with this accomplishment.

I am walking by Mickey's room and I glance in and see my 3 year old with a mound of clothes around her. She is desperately looking for something that she is not finding. Every last piece of clothing that I had put in the drawers are out not one piece is left where I put it. She wants her "pretty" dress. We find one and we put the clothes back but not nearly how they were the first time I did this.

Princess Room

I am not that into princess stuff. I think that I am more of a tomboy when it comes to girly things. I think that when you are raised with a bunch of boys some of the more girly things get pushed back and then you realize that are not girly. My daughter is a girly girl. She loves everything princess. If you call a dress pretty and say it is a princess dress, SHE LOVES IT!

So my plan is to make her room a princess room. We worked on it last week and some this week and she loves it. I bought a shelf for her room to get the toys off the floor and make it so we can actually play in there (and maybe keep the rest of the house clean *crosses fingers*). Mickey put flower stickers all over the front of it and though I think that it looks a little psychedelic, she loves it. We put up a wall border (that is having a hard time staying up) that if princess. And today we will put up the rest of those princess stickers.

I still need to find a princess comforter and then we are moving her bed in there. I am hoping we will have a better time at this transition than we did when we tried it in the past. She is loving making her princess room and I am enjoying seeing the delight in her eyes.

Maybe I will also enjoy positives of the effort that we have made.

Maybe I will even have a cleaner house. :) Probably not but it is fun to dream though.

I will post pictures as soon as we are done. I think you might like it.

Counting in Spanish

Today Mickey and I were playing a game online, "Handy Manny" from the Disney channel. We were finding keys and Manny began counting in Spanish. He said Uno, dos and then Mickey shouted "Tres". Then she proceeded to count to five in Spanish. I was a little shocked because I have never taught her this.

We called Grammie Syl and Mickey demonstrated her new skill. She loved it (both Grammie and Mickey). Then Daddy got home from working and she showed off again. I told Jeff that I never taught her this. Then he smiled and said that he had. While they are outside swinging he counts for her in Spanish and she has retained it. This was fun for both of us. We may have a little Spanish speaker on our hands if Jeff keeps teaching her. Maybe I will learn a thing or two also.

A girl and her daddy

I have to say that daddy and Mickey have been sharing some good bonding time since he has been home. I am not sure who missed who more. But as you can see they are both all smiles.

Lost Daddy

Last week Daddy went away on business. Mickey did not do so well. She was heartbroken that she has lost her daddy. I felt awful being the one to tell her that we could not get in the truck to go and find him. Jeff is a great daddy and husband and I am so thankful that he is who he is.

Jeff fixed up a webcam on his computer so that he could send sweet and often funny videos to his little girl. Mickey loved it. He would send her videos that we would get in the morning and she would watch them over and over again. One day I allowed her to eat breakfast with her daddy. This is a sweet daddy who took time to be with his daughter even though he was a few hours away. Thank you for our hero, daddy. I am also thanking the Lord for modern technology!

I've been tagged

I have been tagged by Cheryl. It is to post a picture that is in your fourth folder/fourth picture.

This photo was taken last year for my 365 day project that I didn't complete. I really like how she is looking and enjoying the water. I have started a new project this year a 52 week project. One photo a week is more my speed than one a day. I am having fun.
