Fair Day

Today we made our annual visit to the fair. And we had a great day. We had two highlights today. The first was the petting zoo. Mickey got to feed the animals and love on them. Her favorites were definitely the baby goats. The black one is Spot and the brown one is Stanley. I think that we could have spent hours loving on the goats.

The second highlight of the day were the Bengal Tigers. These were magnificent creatures and it was a blessing to be able to see these animals. Mickey even came home with a baby Tiger of her own. She is asleep with it now.

Happy Birthday Grammie

Today we celebrated Grammie Syl's birthday. Mickey was so excited that she woke up extra early (5 am). The beginning of the day was a little rough due to the lack of sleep. But as the day went on it was better. Mickey gave her grammie a card that she made and decorated herself (at 6:30 am). Then later on we made a cake. It was yummy! It was a vanilla cake with whipped cream frosting mixed with pineapple with a garnish of strawberries on top. Mickey loved it and so did Grammie Syl.

Day at the Lake

Sometimes pictures can tell the story better than any words. We had a great day spending time as a family!

Let's go on a boat!

This morning my beautiful girl woke me up at 6 am because Daddy told her last night that we were going for a boat ride. My girl was up and ready to go before the sun was even up. Have I told you I am NOT a morning person?

How could anyone be upset with this excited little girl for wanting to go on a boat?? I am just tired but happy to report that we had a great day. I will share more pictures soon but wanted to share a quick story before I went to sleep.

Mickey had hiccups on our way home. Apparently they were bugging her. All of a sudden we hear this roar coming from the back seat. Jeff and I just looked at each other and thought she was just having a good time. This is when she gladly announced that "Sparky scared my hiccups away!". Very imaginative little girl. The amazing thing is that they went away. Thanks to that fast acting Sparky. :)

Dance Class

So Mickey is in her 3rd week of dance class. She is loving it! She calls her shoes "Tap tap" shoes. I took a few snappies today that I thought I share with you.

(Side story... she is supposed to put her head to her knee.
But she got it confused so she brought her knee to her nose. Same thing, right?)

What is your music profile??

I went to this website, Signal Patterns to take a quiz to see what my music profile was. I did it twice to see if it came up with the same thing. This was not a genre question but rather a personality question. I thought it was insightful.

My profile was Sad, Relaxing, Inspiring and Intelligent.

Sad: You like music that makes you feel wistful, sorrowful or melancholy.

Relaxing: You like music that calms you down and puts you at ease.

Inspiring: You're indifferent to music that's uplifting, stimulating and makes you feel good to be alive. (not sure I understand their definition, but I definitely like inspiring songs)

Intelligent: You're indifferent to music that's articulate, literate, worldly and wise. (huh??)

So take the quiz and see what you think. You will need to register after it is done but I think it is worth it. :)

What would you have done??

I just read this article "Man Slaps Stranger's Kid in Wal-mart". Read the article and if you are a parent (especially a parent of a small child) you will be outraged. I know that I have been in Wal-Mart when Mickey was having a melt-down. I assure you that I am not ignoring my child and I am trying to get things done as quickly as possible so I can get home and out of the store. I can't imagine some random guy coming over and slapping my child because my child is having a melt-down. What would you have done?

I am a MOMMA BEAR. I know this and I know that that momma bear comes out the instant that I know that my child has been harmed, in danger, treated poorly in any way. I hope that I would have remained in control but think that they would have had to take that guy to the hospital before they took him to jail. I was also appalled that some of the comments to this article were defending this man because parents are not handling their children.

I have been the mom that has been in the middle of shopping and left because it just wasn't working. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband that will grocery shop for me if I can't do it. I have also been the mom when I am in line after a long trip and my child is having a melt down and I know that I need to just get through the line so we can all go home.

I can't think of a time when this was happening that I wasn't overwhelmed and stressed out because I know that my child is getting on other people's nerves. Trust me I don't want my child screaming through Wal-Mart. I just don't always get my wish. I do things to prevent it but you can't prevent every bad moment in your child's life.

I just can't believe that man!

My beautiful girl

Mickey is loving her new dancing outfits and I am enjoying taking pictures of her. On this shot I asked her to pray and she did. Doesn't she look just precious??

I decided to play with it a bit. Still rusty but think that I am going to like adding fairy wings to pictures. :)
